To mark National Tree Week (23 Nov – 1 Dec), a Northamptonshire-based eco-friendly transit packaging specialist is celebrating planting 2,000 new trees in the Scottish Highlands as part of its ongoing environmental efforts.
PALLITE® – a provider of lightweight, paper-based pallets, pallet boxes, layer pads and warehouse storage solutions – pledged to plant the trees as a ‘thank you’ to all those who donated to its recent crowd-funding campaign.
The campaign – PALLITE®’s first crowd-funding effort – raised a huge £1.2 million, which will be spent on growing the business and on product innovations to enhance its environmental credentials.
We are enormously grateful to everyone who donated to the campaign, and are delighted to have been able to provide 2,000 trees to the award-winning conservation charity Trees for Life as a result.
Trees for Life has been working for more than 25 years to save Scotland’s wild and ancient Caledonian Forest and the wildlife that calls it home. During that time, the charity has overseen the planting of almost two million trees, helping to protect and expand a unique habitat of global importance that is home to rare wildlife and biodiversity.
Our trees will be carefully planted in protected sites across the Highlands, where they will create new homes for wildlife and forests for the future. As a business that places huge importance on reducing the detrimental impact human activity – and the packaging industry in particular – has on our planet, it feels great to be able to contribute to reducing carbon emissions and tackling climate change in this way.Iain Hulmes, PALLITE® CEO
Organised by The Tree Council, National Tree Week (23 Nov – 1 Dec) is the UK’s largest annual tree celebration. Marking the start of the winter tree planting season, it encourages businesses and communities across the UK to get involved in efforts to plant the 30,000 hectares of trees experts predict the UK will need every year for the next 30 years in order to offset climate change.
PALLITE® products are 100% recyclable after use and proven in independent tests to contribute less to climate change and the disappearance of the world’s rainforests than wooden pallets. They also provide a range of green benefits for companies that choose to use them, including reduced CO2 emissions and lower transport costs.
