PALLITE®’s COVID-19 Statement

PALLITE®’s COVID-19 Statement

We at PALLITE® want to reassure our loyal customers and stakeholders that we are doing our utmost to operate our business at full capacity, whilst keeping the health and safety of our workforce at the centre of everything we do.

In line with government guidelines we have made the following changes:

Increased hygiene measures on site

Restricted all internal and external visitors to site

Increased use of virtual meetings with our workforce, customers and suppliers

Ensured our workforce understand and follow the NHS guidelines for self-isolation

Worked with our raw material suppliers & hauliers to minimise risk of disruption

Increased social distancing in place at factory. Two-person jobs now single-person, only irrespective of any reduction in output

We are actively monitoring the situation and published guidance from the NHS, WHO and the government.

Our sales team remain available and willing to support our customers and their supply chains through these uncertain times.

We are currently operating ‘business as usual’ and are capable of shipping high volumes of standard products such as pallets and layer boards at short notice if needed.

Like many businesses during the global pandemic, the team at PALLITE® – an award-winning manufacturer of honeycomb-cardboard products for the packaging and logistics industries – had their world flipped upside down by lockdown. When Yvonne Taylor, Sales Support Manager, flagged that one of the team was having rest her laptop on her knees whilst sitting on her bed, the creative team at PALLITE® designed her a pop-up desk that was to be the start of The Paper Hive Company.

Within two weeks, the desks were available to purchase from a new online shop under existing brand PALLITE®, as well as being rolled out to retailers and sold directly to businesses looking to support their staff working at home.

Emma Brundrett from Gymshark added, “Gymshark discovered PALLITE® just after lockdown started. We knew that the home workstations of many of our employees wouldn’t be suitable for use when working from home and wanted to ensure that the health and safety of our employees were catered for and Pallite helped us to do this… PALLITE® desks are sturdy, of good quality and value, and their customer service is excellent; very efficient and personalised. We would definitely recommend them!”

Within the first month, over 5,000 desks had been shipped and, even now, the desks have received nothing but 5-star reviews. The early momentum grew when the business partnered with social media influencer, The 5 Minute Mum. It snowballed when the pop-up desks, and another new range of protective screens, gained national television and press coverage including BBC and ITV News.

Lynne Hackworth, Senior DSE Safety Co-Ordinator at The Open University commented that they have “found the innovative environmentally friendly ‘cardboard desk’ excellent support for staff during COVID-19 and future use.  It has been exceptionally helpful with musculoskeletal issues for staff who have small spaces, shared houses and no tables to use…We cannot recommend Pallite enough for their products and wonderful customer service.”

The continued success of the range saw the foundation of The Paper Hive Company – separating consumer products from PALLITE®’s industrial products.

The Paper Hive Company focuses initially on three distinct areas: study, play and make.

The Study Range sees their complete range of pop up desks – including adults, junior, and standing versions in a range of sizes. The Play Range features an exciting range that is currently in development of children’s role play structures, all made from environmentally-friendly material that is much sturdier and more durable than typical domestic cardboard. And finally, the Craft Range, as featured on the TV shopping channel, Hochanda, includes free-standing letters, themed shapes and a pop-up sewing table that sold out within an hour of launch, all ideal for decorating.

Expert Crafter and TV Presenter Hayley West commented, “‘It’s really exciting to see such an innovative company emerging into our crafting world.  The standard of their products are amazing, and they have lots of fabulous ideas and designs to share with us. Not only incredibly practical ones like their world-famous ‘Pop Up’ desks but  some great home decor designs too for us to get truly creative with.”
